Why this blog?
This blog unapologetically supports the Democratic Party. There are few if any blogs which support the Pro Democracy Movement that strongly support the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party is a proud political party with a great legacy. We are proud of our history, a history that includes FDR leading us out of the Great Depression and to victory in the Second World War, a history that includes President LBJ and the passage of The Civil Rights Act of 1964, The Voting Rights Act of 1965, the creation of Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, and under President Obama we celebrate the passage of the Affordable Care Act, The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009, The Violence Against Women Act, Frank Dodd, and more recently under President Biden we saw the passage of The American Rescue Plan, the Respect for Marriage Act, The Electoral Count Reform Act of 2022, The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, The Chips and Science Act, The PACT Act, The Inflation Reduction Act, The Bipartisan Infrastructure Legislation, and HR 8035.
Despite the more than 75 million votes for Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party is more fractured and weaker than at any time in recent memory at the worst possible time. American voters like voters in developed democracies all over the world were angry because they endured the pandemic and pandemic driven inflation. While it was perfectly understandable for our voters to be angry and upset that they endured the pandemic and pandemic driven inflation, it makes no sense based upon the data to be angry at the then incumbent administration, President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. We were stunned that a plurality but not a majority of those who voted chose to vote for Donald Trump as an insane expression of their anger. The mainstream media sanewashed Donald Trump and minimized the fascist threat that he posed and continues to pose. They spent more time decrying President Biden's age and gaffes than Donald Trump's fascism and evidence of dementia. Too many Republicans and military leaders did not endorse Vice President Kamala Harris. If more prominent Republicans and military leaders had endorsed her, then low information voters would have understood that this was not a normal R and D presidential election.
Donald Trump is an embodiment of the anger that these voters feel because they endured the pandemic and pandemic driven inflation. Donald Trump is breaking things and for now this temporarily satiates and satisfies the wrath of the voters. If somebody wanted to break this country and important features and parts of American life, they would not have chosen different nominees than those whom Donald Trump selected. Donald Trump is taking actions now that are fundamentally changing America, weakening the country, and destroying our democracy. He is implementing his fascist plans, but he is not doing anything to practically help Americans by lowering prices or lowering inflation. The actions he is taking now and his own ineptness will harm our economy and the financial status of most middle class Americans. The longer he is in office, the greater the clarity of the economic destruction he imposing on the country and its people. The longer he is in office, the more difficult it will be for him to avoid the voters holding him accountable for damaging our economy and their personal economies.
Polling shows that most voters at this time want Democrats in Congress to work with Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress to work together to lower prices and inflation. However, Donald Trump isn't doing anything to lower prices or inflation. Voters didn't ask for Donald Trump's fascism and they don't want it. They don't want bipartisan work implementing fascism. Furthermore, it leaves voters confused when we correctly identify him as an anti-democratic fascist and yet we try to work with him and vote to confirm his nominees.
Democrats in Congress including our leaders in Congress seem to have misread the room, misunderstood what those of us in the Pro Democracy movement expect and demand of them. MAGA will not support Democrats in Congress. A majority of voters didn't vote for him. The vast majority of voters don't support fascism. They don't want it. Working with him on legislation that would lower inflation and prices would be rational because most voters want that, but that's not what Donald Trump is pursuing. There is no demand from voters for bipartisan support for his fascist agenda. Moreover, MAGA won't support Democrats or Democratic Party leaders. Hence, the voters available to support the Democratic Party and Democrats in Congress are strictly those in the Pro Democracy Movement. We expect and demand that Democrats in Congress and in state government clearly and unambiguously fight Donald Trump as he attempts to implement his fascist agenda. We see too little fight against Trump's fascism and too much cowardice in Democrats in Congress.
Nevertheless, we must strongly support the Democratic Party and Democrats in Congress. We cannot obey in advance by allowing the proposition that there will not be a free and fair election in the 2026 midterms and a presidential election in 2028. The Republican Party does have a 53-47 majority in the Senate, but their margin is only a few votes in the House of Representatives. While every Senate map will be unfavorable to democrats because of the anti-democratic unrepresentative nature of the Senate, the 2026 map is better than most. Moreover, we have an excellent chance at retaking the House of Representatives. No third party will win a majority of the House of Representatives in 2026 nor will a third party presidential candidate win any electoral college votes in 2028. The best way to limit the damage that Donald Trump can do is to retake the House of Representatives in 2026 and reduce the margin in the Senate. We must, therefore, do everything we can to maximize the likelihood that we retake both chambers of Congress or at least the House of Representatives. Democrats in Congress and Democratic Party leaders in Congress can maximize that by clearly fighting back against Trump's fascism and the oligarchy. They need to communicate a simple, clear, concise message: Donald Trump's fascism is taking away your freedom and your rights, but it doesn't lower prices or inflation. Donald Trump's actions are driving prices and inflation up.
We can maximize the likelihood that we retake both chambers of Congress by strongly supporting the Democratic Party and Democrats in Congress. We maximize the likelihood that we win back a majority in both or either chamber of Congress by limiting our criticism of Democrats in Congress and Democratic Party leaders to constructive criticism that remembers that Donald Trump and his Republican Party and his oligarchy are the enemies and that every Democrat and our Democratic leaders in Congress are far superior to every Trump supporting Republican. That's why this blog exists.
